Most guys assume their product “doesn’t work” when their hair loses shape by mid-day. In reality, long-lasting hold comes down to three things: starting with completely dry hair, using the right product for your hair type, and applying the correct amount.
If you apply product to damp hair, it dilutes the hold. If you have thick or stubborn hair, a light cream won’t be strong enough — you’ll need a clay or stronger paste. And if your hair is fine, using too much heavy product will actually cause it to collapse. The fix is simple: blow dry into shape first, use a pea-to-dime sized amount depending on density, warm it fully in your hands, and apply from back to front. The right product, applied correctly, should hold without feeling stiff or greasy.
